Home of the Thorndale Fair. James Shanly bought a large property in West Nissouri Township in 1837 and named his estate Thorndale. In 1858 the Logan family laid out a village site. When the post office opened in 1859 it took the name Thorndale.

The Trails at Wye Creek is the newest residential subdivision.  The abundant green space gives this area a country feel.   In the centre of this subdivision is the West Nissouri Public School.  The school is grades JK-8.
